SuRIA Home Solar Rebate:
Up to RM 3,000
for Malaysian Homes.
The SuRIA Home solar rebate is the Malaysian government's RM 600 per kWac (capped at RM 3,000) cash rebate for residential rooftop solar installed under Solar ATAP. Launched by PETRA on 22 May 2026, implementation begins 1 June 2026. Limited to a 250 MW national quota, first come, first served.
What is SuRIA Home?
The Sustainable Rebate and Incentive Assistance (SuRIA) Home initiative is a Malaysian government programme by PETRA (Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air), launched on 22 May 2026 in Putrajaya by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. It allocates RM 150 million in cash rebates to help Malaysian households lower their electricity bills by going solar, and is expected to benefit between 45,000 and 50,000 homes nationwide, supporting a cumulative 250 MW of installed residential rooftop solar capacity. SuRIA Home was introduced to help Malaysians cope with rising power costs amid a global energy supply crisis linked to conflicts in West Asia. The incentive is paired with Solar ATAP, the national residential rooftop solar scheme: you install through Solar ATAP and commission with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), and SuRIA Home pays you RM 600 per kWac, capped at RM 3,000 per household.

Slide to your planned system size in kWac. The rebate is RM 600 × kWac, capped at RM 3,000 per household. That cap is reached at a 5 kWac system.
How big is your planned solar system?
1 kWac = the AC nameplate output of your solar inverter. Most homes install between 3–6 kWac depending on roof size and monthly bill.
| Solar system size | SuRIA Home cash rebate |
|---|---|
| 1 kWac | RM 600 |
| 2 kWac | RM 1,200 |
| 3 kWac | RM 1,800 |
| 4 kWac | RM 2,400 |
| 5 kWac and above | RM 3,000 (maximum) |
Calculated as RM 600 × kWac. The RM 3,000 cap is reached at a 5 kWac system; larger systems still receive the RM 3,000 maximum. Figures are from the official launch announcement on 22 May 2026.

Common questions about SuRIA Home
Answered from the official launch announcement and the official TNB SuRIA Home FAQ published on the myTNB portal.
What is SuRIA Home?
The Sustainable Rebate and Incentive Assistance (SuRIA) Home initiative is a Malaysian government programme by PETRA (Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air) launched on 22 May 2026. It allocates RM 150 million in cash rebates to help Malaysian households install rooftop solar and lower their electricity bills.
How much is the rebate?
RM 600 for every 1 kWac of solar installed, capped at RM 3,000 per household. The cap is reached at a 5 kWac system.
When does the rebate start?
Rebate implementation begins 1 June 2026. The programme was announced on 22 May 2026 by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Who is eligible?
Malaysian citizens who are individual TNB customers under the Domestic Tariff (companies excluded) and have successfully commissioned a Solar ATAP system with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) by 31 December 2026. You must not have already received a cash rebate under the earlier SolaRIS programme. One rebate per customer.
How is SuRIA Home related to Solar ATAP?
Solar ATAP (Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme) is the national scheme that allows you to install residential rooftop solar. SuRIA Home is the rebate paid to households who install under Solar ATAP. You need both: you install through Solar ATAP and claim through SuRIA Home.
How many claims can I make?
Only one rebate per eligible customer, applied to the first house you commission under Solar ATAP. If you own several houses with solar, only the first counts. If you bought a house whose previous owner already claimed for that system, it is not eligible again, because the rebate is tied to the system's first commissioning.
When does the programme window close?
SuRIA Home is open to Solar ATAP installations that commence operations by 31 December 2026, or until the RM 150 million allocation (a cumulative 250 MW of rooftop solar nationwide) is fully taken up, whichever comes first. Allocation is on a first come, first served basis.
How many households will benefit?
The programme targets between 45,000 and 50,000 homes across Malaysia, backed by a total government allocation of RM 150 million.
How do I claim and receive the rebate?
There is no separate application. Once your Solar ATAP system is successfully commissioned with TNB, you are assessed automatically. From 1 June 2026, TNB notifies eligible customers in phases via their TNB-registered email (after the Solar ATAP Welcome Letter) to submit their preferred local bank account details. Once verified, the cash rebate is transferred within seven (7) working days, subject to bank processing time. The bank account must be in the name of the TNB-registered customer. (Source: official TNB SuRIA Home FAQ.)
What if I installed my Solar ATAP system before 1 June 2026?
You are still eligible. Any customer who successfully commissions a Solar ATAP system with TNB by 31 December 2026 qualifies for the SuRIA Home rebate, including systems commissioned before 1 June 2026. (Source: official TNB SuRIA Home FAQ.)
I haven't received my SuRIA Home email after commissioning. What should I do?
Eligible customers are notified of their SuRIA Home eligibility via their TNB-registered email in phases from 1 June 2026, after receiving their Solar ATAP Welcome Letter. If you haven't received it, check your spam folder. For help, contact TNB CareLine at 1-300-88-5454 or CareLine@myTNB.my. (Source: official TNB SuRIA Home FAQ.)
